As a result of the Busan Metropolitan Government's expansion of infrastructure such as the construction of industrial complexes and apartment-type factories, foreign companies are flocking.
The city announced on the 25th that 33 companies have moved to Busan as a result of a survey on the status of transferring and entering the manufacturing and related service industries with more than five employees in the first half of this year. During this period, five companies left Busan.
Companies that have moved to Busan include 24 manufacturing industries, 6 information technology-related service industries, 2 research institutes, and 1 quasi-governmental institution. The previous locations were 20 in Gyeongnam, 9 in the Seoul metropolitan area, 2 in Ulsan, and 1 in Chungbuk. Since 2006, a total of 222 companies have moved to Busan and 174 companies have moved. In 2006, there were 66 companies that left Busan, far more than 27 companies. However, since 2008, the reversal has occurred, and the number of companies moving in has steadily increased.
Samwoo Jeonggong Co., Ltd., a marine plant company that held a groundbreaking ceremony at the Mieum Industrial Complex in Gangseo-gu, will move from Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do to Busan. It will invest 25 billion won to establish a factory that produces LNG ships and parts for ship engines with a total floor area of 18,972㎡. Following Samwoo Industrial Complex, Asan Co., DKC Co., Ltd. and Aims Co., Ltd. are pushing for a groundbreaking ceremony in the second half of the year.
In addition to the Mieum Complex, the city is also pushing for smooth supply of the duck industrial complex and Seokdae high-tech industrial complex currently under construction.
Jo Don-young, head of Busan's investment planning division, said, "This phenomenon is due to the creation of apartment-type factories in Centum City, the full-scale sale of Mieum Industrial Complex, and the development of international industrial logistics cities."
